Clear placement objectives
A shared understanding of the learner’s needs, strengths and intended outcomes.
For schools, families and employers
Costiles Academy is intended to complement mainstream education through practical tiling learning, clear communication and a shared focus on positive next steps for young people.
Working with schools and local authorities
We will work with schools and local authorities through agreed placement objectives, attendance reporting, progress updates, safeguarding communication and review meetings.
A shared understanding of the learner’s needs, strengths and intended outcomes.
Attendance, progress and significant concerns communicated promptly and appropriately.
Constructive review meetings that keep the learner’s pathway visible and supported.
The Costiles Way in partnership
The Costiles Way works best when learners experience consistent messages, clear communication and joined-up support. We work with schools, Local Authorities, families, employers and specialist services to help each learner feel safe, known, challenged, skilled and ready.
Working with families
We will provide clear information before placement and an accessible route for ongoing communication. Families will be invited into reviews, progress feedback and celebrations of achievement, with prompt contact around significant concerns.
Clear information about the programme, expectations and support available.
Attendance support, progress feedback and accessible communication.
Participation in reviews, transition planning and celebration of achievement.
Safeguarding in partnership
Safeguarding is central to the Costiles Way. We will work within our role and competence, maintain clear communication with the appropriate people and follow agreed arrangements for sharing concerns, responding to incidents and reviewing support.
Guidance for learners and families
Before a learner begins, we will explain the programme, workshop expectations, routines, support available and how progress will be reviewed. Learners and families should feel able to ask questions, share relevant information and take part in planning the next step.
Employer engagement
Employer involvement will help learners understand authentic workplace expectations and explore realistic routes into further education, training, apprenticeships and employment.
Employer talks, demonstrations and workplace visits where appropriate.
Industry projects, mock interviews and progression conversations.
All activity will be subject to appropriate risk assessment and safeguarding controls.
Careers and positive destinations
Career planning will connect learner interests with realistic pathways. We will help learners identify aspirations, understand entry requirements, develop skills and qualifications, explore opportunities and plan their transition.
