Referral and safeguarding journey

Suitability comes before a placement decision.

An initial enquiry is not a placement offer. Before any placement is considered, we will work with the referring organisation and family, where appropriate, to understand the learner’s strengths, needs, intended outcomes and the support required for safe participation.

    Initial conversation

    We discuss the learner’s context, the purpose of the referral and whether our practical offer may be appropriate.

  2. 02

    Appropriate information sharing

    We agree what relevant information is needed to consider suitability, including safeguarding, health, support and educational information where applicable.

  3. 03

    Suitability and risk review

    We consider whether the Academy can safely and appropriately meet the learner’s needs within its role, environment and available support.

  4. 04

    Plan the next step

    If a placement is suitable, we agree objectives, communication arrangements and a supported start. If it is not, we will explain this clearly and support constructive next-step discussion.
